A Special General Meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India has been convened in Mumbai on July 3 to discuss Lalit Modi's reply to the show-cause notices sent to him by the Board. The meeting is expected not only to weigh up the merits of Modi's reply, but also consider his expulsion from the BCCI, a source revealed.

The suspended IPL commissioner was first accused of serious financial improprieties in the conduct of the league and of irregularities in the awarding of teams to new franchises. Modi replied to this notice with a 15,000-page document, only to be handed a second notice prompted by allegations from the England & Wales Cricket Board's Giles Clarke, who accused Modi of attempting to destroy the structure of world cricket.

As soon as Modi had submitted his reply, this time only running into 24 pages, the BCCI sent him a third notice, relating to irregularities in the awarding of theatrical rights and 150-second commercial slot in between balls during the telecast of IPL III matches. Modi has replied to this notice too.
