Who is the best batsman of the current generation- Virat Kohli or Steve Smith? This is the question that is in the mind of every cricket lover at this moment. While Kohli certainly is ahead of all his contemporaries in limited overs cricket, former English captain turned commentator Michael Vaughan believes that Smith is currently lording over his Indian counterpart in Tests.

On Friday, as the Australian cricket team skipper sauntered his way to the 22nd Test hundred at the WACA, Vaughan took to Twitter to dub him the best batsman in the longer version of the game.
“IMO ... @imVkohli is the best player across the 3 formats ... But @stevesmith49 is the best in Tests ... #OnOn #Ashes ... Although I would really like both in the same team,” Vaughan tweeted.

Steve Smith, the top ranked batsman in Tests, continued to bat impressively even after scoring the hundred on Saturday as he completed 1000 runs in a calendar year for the fourth time on the trot. Thanks to this acheivement, he joined fellow Australian Matthew Hayden as the only other player in Test history to have scored 1000 runs in a year on four consecutive occasions.
Steve Smith’s Test average also crossed 61 during his knock - a figure second only to Sir Donald Bradman (99.94) among batsmen with more than 5000 runs in Test cricket.
