Australian skipper Steve Smith announced his engagement to his partner Dani Willis on Thursday.
Smith, who has been dating Willis since five years, proposed on New York’s Top of the Rock and shared the picture on his Instagram.
“Today I got down on one knee and (Willis) said YES,” Smith wrote.
The couple are currently on a break in the United States.
Smith met Willis, a law student, at a bar during the first edition of the Big Bash T20 league in 2011-12.
The couple’s engagement rumours first sparked off earlier this year when Willis was spotted wearing a diamond ring during the Allan Border Medal red carpet. However, she was quick to clarify that she wasn’t engaged yet.
Smith experienced a whirlwind season in India where his Australian Test team almost gave India a scare in the four-match series. He then captained his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Rising Pune Supergiant to the final where it lost to Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad.
