It seems like there is no end to West Indian batsman Sunil Ambris’ tryst with hit wickets. It was only a few days back when he earned a dubious distinction of becoming the first player in the history of cricket to be dismissed hit-wicket for a first-ball duck on debut against New Zealand in Wellington.

Batting only for the third time in his fortnight-long international career, Ambris was dismissed hit-wicket for the second time in the ongoing second Test between New Zealand and West Indies in Hamilton on Sunday.

The rookie batsman could score only two runs off 10 balls before stepping onto his stumps while facing Kiwi pacer Trent Boult. The embarrassing dismissal earned him another unwanted first. The 24-year old became the only player in the Test history to be out hit-wicket twice in his first two matches. He has also become the fourth player to do so in back-to-back Tests.

Between these two hit-wicket dismissals, he played another innings in his debut Test where he became the third player in Test history to score his first career runs with a six.

Meanwhile, the West Indies closed the second day’s play at 215/8, trailing the hosts by 158 runs in the first innings. New Zealand lead the two-match series 1-0 after notching up an innings and 67-run victory over the visitors in the first Test at the Basin Reserve.
