West Indies batswoman Stafanie Taylor, who failed in the opening game defeat against India in the World Cup, was so worked up going to bed on Saturday that she dreamt she had found her touch but fallen short of her century by six runs - in the key clash against Sri Lanka.

Taylor not only woke up brimming with confidence, she surpassed all hopes as she slammed 171 off just 137 balls in the second Group A tie here which pretty much settled the outcome.

"I would definitely say I dreamt about it. I actually dreamt last night that I made 94 runs," said Taylor. "I woke up and told my roommate Mini (Shemaine Campbelle) and she asked me, 'what about the remaining six runs'?"

It was at the same venue that Australia's Belinda Clarke scored the first-ever one-day double ton (229 not out), against Denmark in 1997. Once she crossed 150, Taylor had a double on her sights but the Jamaican was too tired to get it. "I wanted to do it. I was trying, but fatigue got the better of me," she said.

With this blazing ton, Taylor, who idolises fellow-Jamaican Chris Gayle, has inscribed her name in the annals of women's cricket as she became the third highest individual scorer in ODIs after Clarke and Charlotte Edwards of England (173*).
