Teams wait for IPL pie

The Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi and some of its governing council members met the eight franchises here on Wednesday to discuss the way forward after the third edition in 2010.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi and some of its governing council members met the eight franchises here on Wednesday to discuss the way forward after the third edition in 2010.

This is because the player contracts end after the third edition.

The expenses of the franchises would also be reviewed with the additional costs they incurred as a result of shifting the tournament to South Africa in April-May this year.

“We will wait for the IPL decision if they are reimbursing us in full.”

However, the IPL is not worried about the loss in the range of Rs 30-40 crore for taking the tournament to South Africa. The loss was largely due to the additional expenses of Rs 97.86 crore incurred for the shift.
