The hard line faction of banned Ulfa led by its commander-in-chief Paresh Barua has threatened to launch armed strikes against security forces, vital installations, political party leaders, corrupt officials, dubious businessmen in the state.
In an email to media houses in Guwahati on Tuesday, Ulfa publicity convenor Arunuday Dohotia appealed common people in the state to stay away from sensitive places, places of vital installations, not to move in vehicles of security forces, political party leaders.
“We don’t want any casualty of common people while observing protest against Govt of India and occupied forces. That is why we want common people to maintain a distance from security forces, security installations, political party office”, said Dohotia in the mail.
On Monday Assam police ADGP (Special Branch) Khagen Sarma told media that hard line faction of Ulfa under c in c of the outfit Paresh Barua planned major strikes in the state on November 27 and 28 with supports from Manipuri militant outfit PLA, UNLF and KYKL.
After intercepting Barua’s message to cadres active in the state, all the police stations in the state were altered about the Ulfa’s plan.

{{/usCountry}}Sarma said that Paresh Barua was trying to derail the ongoing peace process and the November 27, 28 strike plans was part of his show of strength.
Ulfa observes protest day on November 28 every year in protest against declaring it as banned outfit. On November 28, 1990, govt. had banned Ulfa and since then the outfit faced series of military offensive against it.
While one faction of Ulfa under the leadership of chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa joined the peace initiative of Govt. of India, the hard line faction led by c in c of the outfit Paresh Barua has opposed the talk with Govt. of India.
After the Bangladeshdebacle for Ulfa in 2009, the elusive c in c of the outfit and a section of his trusted lieutenants fled to Myanmarand set up camps in dense jungles of Kachin province with support from a faction of NSCN (K) and militant outfits of Manipur who have bases near China– Myanmarborder. The Ulfa c in c reportedly enjoyed support from Chinese intelligences to carry out anti Indiaactivities.
Meanwhile the pro talk faction of Ulfa under the leadership of chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa has opposed the threatening of hard line faction leader Paresh Barua. The Rajkhowa faction asked the Paresh Barua to realize the ground situation of Assamand appealed not to indulge any violence.
