The 26-year-old Smartt, who pleaded guilty to the doping offence, was tested after a Twenty20 match against Pakistan in Georgetown, Guyana on Sept. 11.

The ICC's independent anti-doping tribunal says it accepted Smartt's explanation that she took the substance to treat swelling in her knee. But it adds that she had "failed to satisfy the high levels of personal responsibility implicit upon her as an international cricketer subject to anti-doping rules."

The ICC and Smartt can appeal the decision.
