Towards this, Virender Sehwag spent a major part of Monday morning springing surprises by knocking on the doors of a select group of followers.

From the outset, the skipper was in a jovial mood. Quizzed on how much he knew his teammates, the dashing opener let out a few secrets. “Gautam (Gambhir) is a serious guy but he can also be mischievous at times. Recently during the New Zealand tour, he stuck a chewing gum on Ishant’s (Sharma) pants,” he said.

Going on to Ishant, Sehwag felt the lanky fast bowler would be better off if he abstained from singing.

The destination was yet to be reached when during a short halt at a gurdwara, a child tugged at his father’s sleeve, shouting and gesticulating, “Papa Sehwag, Papa Sehwag,” after spotting him in the new red and blue Daredevil jersey. The amused player waved back.

“Harbhajan makes us laugh a lot and there is no one to stop him.”
