Butt had recently sent a draft of proposed amendments in the Pakistan Cricket Board constitution which has later been a matter of great debate owing to the arbitrary powers invested with the Chairman.

However, the President Zardari returned back the draft and instructed Butt to consult the constitution committee before recommending any changes.

"The Presidency has sent back the draft amendments and asked the Board Chairman to consult with the constitution committee formed to recommend changes in the constitution," a source in the PCB said.

The constitution committee includes the Federal Law as well as the Sports Minister which has been formed by the President of Pakistan to suggest amendments to make the constitution more democratic.

To make matters worse for Butt, who only took charge in October, there are reports in the media about affiliated regional associations of the Board preparing to file a resolution against newly-appointed Director-General Javed Miandad.
