More than 400 roads have been blocked in Uttarakhand because of incessant rains that lashed the hill state for more than 72 hours. However, as predicted by the metrological department, the heavy rains have stopped but some parts of the state are witnessing light to moderate rains.

At least 10 people had been killed in the last two days due to rain-related incidents. Two more are missing in Haridwar after they were swept away in a ravine. The rain has also disrupted movement on the Char Dham yatra route.

According to reports, more than 400 pilgrims were stranded in Kedarnath, Badrinath and Gangotri but are said to be safe. Officials said the pilgrim movement will resume once the roads are cleared. The teams of Border Roads Organisations and Public Works Department are working round-the-clock to clear debris from the national highways.

Meanwhile, major rivers of the state – Ganga, Kosi, Gomti, Ramganga and Sharda - are flowing close to the danger mark and have created flood-like situation in the plains of Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh.
