Ten of the 11 members of a family in Delhi’s Burari area found dead blindfolded, gagged and hands tied in their home earlier this month, died of hanging and there were no injury marks on their bodies, according to the post mortem report released Wednesday.

Police said the post mortem report of 11th and the eldest member Narayani Devi is awaited. Her body was found on the floor unlike the other ten.
The 11 members are suspected to have committed a ritualistic mass suicide but relatives of the family had said they had no reason to take their lives and alleged that they were murdered.

Police suspect the mass suicide was planned by Lalit Bhatia who claimed his father’s spirit used to visit him.
Police had earlier said that handwritten notes found at the house seemed to indicate that the family believed that God would miraculously appear and save them the moment they hanged themselves.
