Man stabs wife 40 times over ‘affair’, slits his wrists

NEW DELHI: Suspecting his wife of having an extra-marital affair, a 38-year-old man allegedly stabbed his wife over 40 times, till she bled to death in south-west Delhi’s Bindapur area on Sunday afternoon. After killing his wife, the man slit both his wrists with the same knife.

While the 36-year-old woman, Suman, died, Prem Singh, an e-rickshaw driver is recuperating at the hospital.

The incident came to light after the neighbours made a PCR call, when they heard Singh shouting in pain from inside his house.

“When we reached the house, the door was locked from inside. We broke it open and the couple lying on the ground. While Suman was dead, her husband was semi-conscious and was bleeding profusely from his wrists,” a senior police officer said.

Investigations revealed that Singh was drunk when he came back from work and found his wife speaking to someone over the phone. Suspecting that she was talking to her lover, he took a knife and killed her.
