A sole breadwinner, he had just landed a govt job

And what added to the festivities of the Singh household was the marriage of his first cousin Sandeep. But the revelry were cut short soon as a gun shot fired by an excited relative at the marriage function hit Singh slightly above his left eyebrow, killing him. These days, celebratory gunshots have become a trend at lavish weddings in Delhi, despite their being banned by police.

“He had been waiting for his cousin’s marriage. His joy doubled after he got the government job. He was the family's sole breadwinner,” said a relative.

Singh had a bachelor's degree from Delhi University and had tried his hands at several professions. “He had worked hard to get this job,” the relative added.

Singh is survived by his wife and two children aged two and five. “He was shot dead by one his relatives but still no one from the family has come forward to tell us who fired those gunshots. The negligence of an overjoyed relative devastated one family,” said a senior police officer.
