In what could bring cheer to guest teachers ahead of Holi, the Delhi government has increased their salaries by 45% to 100 % in different categories.

About 17,000 guest teachers in Delhi are likely to be benefitted by the decision. The deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday announced that all Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) and non-CTET teachers are covered under the decision.
Sisodia, who is also the education minister, said the decision approved by the cabinet in December, has been approved by the Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.
After the revision, a Post Graduate teacher (PGT) will get Rs 34, 000 instead of the current pay of Rs 21, 000 per month. Similarly, the remuneration for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) and assistant teacher has been increased to Rs 33,000 and Rs 32,000 respectively. The present salary for a TGT is Rs 18,000 and Rs 16,000 for an assistant teacher.
He said that the notification may be issued in a day or two and then the teachers will start receiving their revised salary.
