Delhi police gear up to prevent Jat protestors from entering Capital on March 20

The Jat protesters had threatened to block essential services to the capital if their demands for reservation are not met.

The Delhi Police Commissioner on Wednesday issued strict orders to prevent Jat protestors, who have threatened to march to Delhi on March 20, from entering the capital.

Delhi Police spokesperson, Madhur Verma said that the police have made adequate arrangements to keep the protestors out. He said a special meeting was held with the joint commissioners, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners and SHOs of the bordering districts asking them to crack down on anyone who try to enter the borders.

Heavy deployment of the force including the riot control force, rapid action force, CRPF and paramilitary will be made at the borders from preventing the entry of protestors.

“All the trolleys, tractors and heavy vehicles will be stopped at the borders by the force. If they are found to be plying within Delhi, the vehicles would be impounded as per the Supreme Court guidelines. Central police forces along with anti-riot equipments would be stationed at the border posts to ensure that no miscreants are allowed to enter the city, through Haryana or UP,” He said.

The police will also check if cars are entering the city with any weapons including lathis and knives.

“A thorough check will be carried out to spot people who enter the capital with any sort of arms even lathis. A crack down against them has been ordered and cases of rioting would be registered against those found to be assembling and creating ruckus,” he said.

“The force will be well equipped with gear and the crack down against people who try to create nuisance will be firm. Proportionate use of force will be done. The police will make sure that there is no inconvenience to the general public,” he added.

Verma also said that that a reserved force has been deployed across all districts in case the protests starts within Delhi. “We have also made arrangements for deployment of force within Delhi and all districts have been informed,” he said.
