Greenfields Public School, Dilshad Garden, organised a two day seminar-cum-workshop for teachers titled 'Emerging Challenges in School Education' on June 28-29. The first day of the seminar commenced with the lighting of lamp by chief cuest Annapoorna Sehgal, Head-Education, HT PACE, principal M Barsaley, vice-principal SK Sharma, and headmistress Purnima Upadhyay. Speaking on the occasion, Annapoorna Sehgal emphasised that the role of a teacher is multi-dimensional and teachers are role models for the students.
Sessions included eminent speakers from various fields. Purushottam Goel, ex- chairman, MetroPolitan Council, spoke on the issue 'Corruption - Growth and Development in India'. Geeta Mehrotra threw light on the 'Role of parents and peers in the holistic growth of an adolescent'.
The HT PACE resource person Rishabh Khanna stressed on inculcating the right values through the development of healthy relationships between students and teachers.
The second day began with 'Yoga & Pranayam Techniques'. Shri Des Raj, general secretary, All India Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, emphasised that pranayam should be practiced by teachers to enable them to help students improve their concentration.
Dr Uday Sinha, associate professor, department of clinical psychology, IHBAS, spoke on specific learning disabilities among students and the ways to overcome them. The seminar concluded with a valedictory function where chief guest Neelam Verma, regional director (east) shared her experiences adding that such programmes rejuvenate teachers and emphasised on cooperative learning. The programme ended with vote of thanks and the national anthem.
Teachers of Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, visited Chase Town Community School, Staffordshire, UK as part of DFID school partnership. The Indian delegates were given a warm welcome by the UK partner school. The teachers were provided with various opportunities to learn about the educational system, history, heritage, art and culture of UK. They were taken on a school tour followed by a detailed discussion with the school principal Linda James and other staff members on the respective education systems in both the countries. The teachers observed the classroom activities which familiarised them with the education system of UK and their teaching learning methodology. The Indian teachers were also taken to Chase Terrace Primary School and Chase Terrace Technology College. The teachers also participated in a tree plantation drive and an interesting cooking session. The visit was a step towards globalisation and strengthening the cultural ties between the two nations.

The tournament was instituted as a tribute to their founder Mother Mary Ward, a woman of faith and vision who recognised the capacity of women for active life in an era where women lived in complete subjugation. Eight schools of Delhi such as GD Goenka, Sanskriti, St Michaels etc. competed in the closely fought matches. The finals were played between Venkateshwara International School and host school Loreto Convent to a finish with a score of 32-39.
