Telangana: Cong MPs slam 'vindictive' chief minister

Congress MPs from Telangana on Thursday accused Andhra Pradesh chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy of adopting an "uncalled for vindictive attitude" towards the people agitating for a separate state.

They also alleged that the chief minister was "sadistically enjoying" the plight of Telangana people and claimed the state service examinations were being held for filling the vacancies with the residents of Andhra region.

Declaring that the Congress MPs will stand by Telangana people at this critical hour, senior party leader K Kesava Rao said the MPs were ready to face the "first bullet" if the state government decided to "crush" the agitation of the common people and government employees from the Telangana region. "If the CM wants to use any bullet…if his DGP wants to use it (against) any striking employees or any Telangana man, we will receive it first."

Criticising the state government's decision to conduct group II service commission examinations in the state on October 15, Rao said job-seekers will face difficulties to attend it as traffic in the region had collapsed due to the stir. MPs also termed as "unconstituntional" Reddy's hesistance to distribute salary advances to the agitating employees ahead of Diwali.
