A case in point is the Malviya Nagar seat. Two senior party leaders — Health Minister Yoganand Shastri and former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women Kiran Walia — are fighting for a ticket from this seat.

While Shastri is the sitting MLA, Walia is claiming ticket from the same seat on the grounds that large parts of her now dissolved Hauz Khas seat has merged with Malviya Nagar.

The Jangpura seat is another example. Tarvinder Singh Marwah is the sitting MLA from this seat, while Tajdar Babar, an MLA from the former Minto Road seat, is lobbying hard for a ticket from the same seat.

Besides, there are a few seats where the party high command is not keen to repeat the non-performing sitting MLAs.
