At a press conference held today, Association president Kidar Nath Bansal, said, “To attract visitors during Commonwealth Games, we have hired an architect and

are paying Rs 10 lakh to

plan integrated development of the market and devise

ways to check traffic

congestion.”

Traders objected to the shifting of the multilevel parking site, which, they claim, will benefit the under-construction DLF Mall, the existing Centre Stage Mall and Radisson Hotel.

Business of hundreds of small shopkeepers would be affected as the parking site is far from their shops.

“There is total chaos in the entire sector-18 market, due to unauthorised parking blocking three-fourth of the road, resulting in obstruction of traffic movement,” said Bansal.

The association has requested removal of transformers erected haphazardly, overhead electric wires and laying of underground cables, development of park and widening of certain roads.
