A day after it cancelled the applied physics question paper, the Uttar Pradesh Technical Education department on Saturday deferred Monday’s applied mathematics examination after the question paper was leaked.
Several pages of the applied physics question paper of government polytechnic institutions in the state were available on WhatsApp hours before the exam was to be held on Friday.
Principal secretary technical education Mukul Singhal told HT both the papers were leaked from Edify Institute of Polytechnic in Mathura (centre code 185).

After the applied physics paper leak, the council issued an order to all centre superintendents to return the question paper packets without breaking the seal.
A team of officials from the council that went to Edify Institute of Polytechnic to investigate the matter found the packets containing the question papers open.
“Team found that the seals of both the packets of applied physics and applied mathematics were broken and one paper was missing from each packet,” Singhal said.
The centre superintendent Sushil Gupta was removed and Vir Singh, a mathematics teacher at PMV Polytechnic in Mathura, was given the charge of the centre. The principal of the college and his assistant, who is allegedly prime suspect behind the paper leak paper, has been booked.

New dates for both the cancelled papers will be announced later.
