MCD Election 2022 highlights: As projected by exit polls, the AAP wrestled control of the Delhi civic body from the BJP, which had been in power there since 2007. While the AAP won 134 seats in the 250-member MCD, the BJP won 104 seats, Congress 9, and independent candidates won the remaining three seats.

With this win, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party now leads the Delhi government, and the city-state's municipal corporation, simultaneously.

The polling for the MCD election was held on December 4, and the counting of votes was done on Wednesday.

Counting of votes to begin at 8 am

The counting of votes for the high-stake Delhi civic polls will begin at 8 am today. The election is seen as a three-way battle between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. 

The polls for 250 wards in the national capital were held on December 4. There are a total of 1,349 candidates in the fray and the voter turnout was about 50 percent.
