With just a week left for the first phase of the Gujarat assembly election, political parties are pulling all sorts of tricks up their sleeves as they make efforts to woo voters in their high-octane campaigns. In one such incident, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha was seen making a reference to the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Sholay’ to give voters a “glimpse” of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal’s "governance".

Referring to the 1975 film’s infamous character Gabbar Singh’s dialogue, Chadha, at a rally in Gujarat's Kankrej, said, "There's a dialogue in the movie Sholay - 'Soh ja beta, warna Gabbar aa jayega'. Today, when any corrupt man cries within miles of Gujarat, his mother tells him, 'Soh ja beta, warna Kejriwal aa jayega (you better sleep else, Kejriwal will come for you) and put you in jail."
Chadha, whose party is trying to make inroads into Gujarat after its stunning performance in Punjab, has been addressing multiple rallies, parallel to other prominent faces like Kejriwal, and Bhagwant Mann as AAP expects to pull off the Punjab magic here as well.

{{/usCountry}}While making a case for Kejriwal, Chadha did not shy away from taking potshots at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Hitting at the Centre over energy and inflation costs, the AAP leader, in one of his rallies in Chotila, targeted BJP’s ‘double-engine’ government trope as he blamed the Gujarat government for failing to “fulfil” promises.
Gujarat will go to polls on December 1 and December 5. The results will be declared on December 8, the same as the date of announcement of the Himachal Pradesh assembly election result.
