Rajguru has the task of winning back the seat he claimed in 2012 but that the Congress lost to the BJP's Arvind Raiyani in the next election; that was after he jumped to Rajkot (west) to take on former chief minister Vijay Rupani. Rajguru lost that election. The ex-MLA quit the Congress to join the AAP in April and then returned eight months later after reportedly being upset that he had not been made that party's chief minister candidate.
