The wife of star India cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, Rivaba was a surprise pick by the BJP for a seat it won from the Congress in 2017; Meruba Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, the MLA who won the seat by nearly 40,000 votes, was shuffled out. Rivaba Jadeja has had support from her husband but much of the focus has been on potential unrest at home, given that Ravindra Jadeja's father and sister campaigned for the Congress candidate for this seat.
