What happened last time

In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 14 candidates in the fray from Bangalore South constituency. Bangalore South was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's M Krishnappa won the election upstaging Indian National Congress's R K Ramesh by a margin of 30,417 votes.

The top three candidates split 98.5% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's M Krishnappa got a total of 1,52,469 votes, while Indian National Congress's R K Ramesh secured 1,22,052 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate R Prabhakar Reddy grabbed the third spot with 36,164 votes. The top three parties got 48.3%, 38.7% and 11.5% respectively.

In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's M. Krishnappa outperformed Janata Dal (Secular)'s R. Prabhakara Reddy by 30,162 votes.
