Basavakalyan is the assembly constituency which comes under the Bidar district. It is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 for Basavakalyan will be held on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
In Karnataka Assembly Election 2018, there were 2,21,072 registered voters for Basavakalyan assembly seat, out of which 1,16,825 were male and 1,04,232 were female voters. 0.6% of voters opted for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Basavakalyan constituency had 13 candidates for assembly seat contention. Basavakalyan was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's B. Narayanrao won the election by upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Mallikarjun Son Of Sidramappa Khuba by a margin of 17,272 votes.
The top three candidates split 95.2% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's B. Narayanrao got a total of 61,425 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Mallikarjun Son Of Sidramappa Khuba secured 44,153 votes. Janata Dal (Secular)'s candidate P.G.R. Sindhia grabbed the third spot with 31,414 votes. The top three parties got 42.7%, 30.7% and 21.8% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Janata Dal (Secular)'s Mallikarjun Sidramappa Khuba beat Indian National Congress's B. Narayanrao by 15,893 votes.
