Indian National Congress's Rahim Khan won the election by upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Surayakanth Nagmarpalli by a margin of 10,245 votes.
The top two candidates split 97.4% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Rahim Khan got a total of 73,270 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Surayakanth Nagmarpalli secured 63,025 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate M Muniyappa secured 1,384 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 52.4%, 45.0% and 1.0% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Karnataka Jantha Paksha's Gurupadappa Nagamarpalli defeated Indian National Congress's Raheem Khan by 2,571 votes.
