It was a close contest with National People's Party's Letpao Haokip winning the election upstaging independent candidate Ts Warngam by a margin of just 2,125 votes.

85.7% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. National People's Party's Letpao Haokip grabbed a total of 14,216 votes, while independent candidate Ts Warngam got 12,091 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate S.S. Olish bagged 9,842 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 33.7%, 28.7% and 23.3% respectively.
