Ramnganing Muivah, popularly known as Ram Muivah, a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from Manipur’s Ukhrul district, is contesting from Ukhrul constituency for the first time on a Naga People’s Front (NPF) ticket in the assembly elections. He had his early education from Sacred Heart High School in Ukhrul. A post-graduate from North East Hill University, Shillong, Ram Muivah was secretary, North Eastern Council (NEC) from 2015-2019. His four years in NEC saw the unprecedented completion of 400 projects, which are spread across the eight northeastern states of India. The SJ Duncan Ecological Park at Somsai, the only recreational centre in Ukhrul, was created when he was the DC of Ukhrul district (1990-1993). The 62-year-old bureaucrat-turned politician will face BJP candidate Somatai Shaiza and sitting Congress MLA Alfred K Arthur.
