Manipur Key Candidate Detail

Yumnam Joykumar was the ex-director general of police before becoming the deputy chief minister of Manipur. He also held the post of minister of finance, excise, taxation, science and technology, economics and statistics and civil aviation in 2017. Joykumar was elected on a National People's Party ticket from Uripok constituency after he defeated Congress' L Nandakumar by 345 votes in the previous assembly elections. Joykumar has been an advocate of organic farming and is working towards making the state self-sufficient. Before entering politics, he was Manipur DGP from 2007-2012. The 68-year-old politician is a retired 1976-cadre IPS officer.
