Manipur polls highlights: 78 per cent voter turnout recorded in polling

Manipur Assembly elections: The polling commenced at 7am and ended at 6pm.

A voter turnout of 78.03 per cent was recorded in the first of two phase elections in Manipur, sealing the fate of 173 candidates. The voting was held at 38 constituencies spread across five districts including Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, and Kangpokpi.     CM Biren Singh casts his vote in Manipur polls

     State chief minister N Biren Singh who is contesting the polls from his traditional home seat casts vote. 

    After casting vote he said BJP will get absolute majority this time and form it's own government. He is confident of getting 30 seats out of 38 assembly constituencies which goes to poll today. Singh, who is contesting against Congress candidate P Sharat, said he will get 75% votes of the 33,000 plus votes in the constituency.
