Manipur Election: Moirang Assembly Constituency 2022

Moirang is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Bishnupur district. Manipur Assembly Election 2022 for Moirang will be held on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.

In Manipur Assembly Election 2017, there were 35,364 registered voters for Moirang assembly seat, out of which 17,433 were male and 17,931 were female voters. 0.6% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.

What happened last time

In 2017, 3 candidates were contesting for Moirang assembly constituency seat. Moirang was one of 21 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Pukhrem Sharatchandra Singh winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Mairembam Prithviraj Singh by a margin of just 375 votes.

100.0% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Bharatiya Janata Party's Pukhrem Sharatchandra Singh got a total of 11,708 votes, while Indian National Congress's Mairembam Prithviraj Singh secured 11,333 votes. Independent candidate Thongam Shanti Singh grabbed the third spot with 8,369 votes. The top three parties got 37.3%, 36.1% and 26.6% respectively.

In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Mairembam Prithviraj Singh defeated Nationalist Congress Party's Pukhrem Sharatchandra Singh by 1,158 votes.
