Saitu (ST) is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Senapati district. Manipur Assembly Election 2022 for Saitu (ST) will be held on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.
Saitu (ST) assembly constituency had 42,141 electors in 2017, out of which 20,891 were male voters and 21,250 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.3% votes.
In 2017, 3 candidates were contesting for Saitu (ST) assembly constituency seat. Saitu (ST) was one of 28 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Ngamthang Haokip won the election by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Haokholet Kipgen by a margin of 3,817 votes.
96.8% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Indian National Congress's Ngamthang Haokip got a total of 19,467 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Haokholet Kipgen got 15,650 votes. Naga Peoples Front's candidate Sehpu Haokip grabbed 1,166 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 53.7%, 43.1% and 3.2% respectively.
In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Ngamthang Haokip outperformed Nagaland Peoples Party's Haokholet Kipgen by 6,186 votes.
