Manipur Election: Sugnu Assembly Constituency 2022

Sugnu is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Thoubal district. Manipur Assembly Election 2022 for Sugnu will be held on March 3 and the result was declared on March 10.

Sugnu assembly constituency had 26,775 electors in 2017, out of which 13,304 were male voters and 13,471 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.7% votes.

What happened last time

In the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, there were 2 candidates in the fray from Sugnu constituency. Sugnu was one of 28 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Kangujam Ranjit Singh won the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Yumnam Jiban Singh by a margin of 3,133 votes.

The top two candidates split 100.0% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Kangujam Ranjit Singh got a total of 13,331 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Yumnam Jiban Singh secured 10,198 votes. The top two parties got 56.7% and 43.3% respectively.

In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Kangujam Ranjit Singh outperformed Communist Party Of India's Yumnam Jiban Shangba by 7,955 votes.
