Manipur Election: Tamei (ST) Assembly Constituency 2022

Tamei (ST) is the assembly constituency which comes under the Tamenglong district. It is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Manipur Assembly Election 2022 for Tamei (ST) will be held on March 3 and the result was declared on March 10.

Tamei (ST) assembly constituency had 36,427 electors in 2017, out of which 17,925 were male voters and 18,502 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.1% votes.

What happened last time

In the Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2017, Tamei (ST) constituency had 3 candidates for assembly seat contention. Tamei (ST) was one of 4 seats won by the Naga Peoples Front. It was a close contest with Naga Peoples Front's Awangbow Newmai winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Z. Kikhonbou Newmai by a margin of just 747 votes.

96.5% of the total votes were casted to top two candidates. Naga Peoples Front's Awangbow Newmai got a total of 15,933 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Z. Kikhonbou Newmai got 15,186 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate G.N. Kumuiteung (DR. AKU) grabbed 1,136 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties secured 49.4%, 47.1% and 3.5% respectively.

In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Z.Kikhonbou Newmai defeated Manipur State Congress Party's Awangbow Newmai by 1,398 votes.
