Manipur Election: Thanlon (ST) Assembly Constituency 2022

Thanlon (ST) comes under the Churuchandpur district and it is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Thanlon (ST) voted for Manipur Assembly Election 2022 on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.

Thanlon (ST) assembly constituency had 18,076 electors in 2017, out of which 9,139 were male voters and 8,937 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.2% votes.

What happened last time

In 2017, 5 candidates were competing for Thanlon (ST) assembly constituency seat. Thanlon (ST) was one of 21 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Vungzagin Valte comfortably winning the election defeating Indian National Congress's Chinkholal Thangsing by a huge margin of 7,169 votes.

The top two candidates split 90.4% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Vungzagin Valte got a total of 9,752 votes, while Indian National Congress's Chinkholal Thangsing secured 2,583 votes. Lok Jan Shakti Party's candidate Thangkhangin secured 795 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 71.4%, 18.9% and 5.8% respectively.

In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Vungzagin Valte outperformed Nagaland Peoples Party's V.Hangkhanlian by 291 votes.
