Manipur Election: Thoubal Assembly Constituency 2022

Thoubal is the assembly constituency which comes under the Thoubal district. It is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies . Manipur Assembly Election 2022 for Thoubal will be held on March 3 and the result was declared on March 10.

What happened last time

In 2017, 5 candidates were competing for Thoubal assembly constituency seat. Thoubal was one of 28 seats won by the Indian National Congress. It was a one way contest with Indian National Congress's Okram Ibobi Singh comfortably winning the election defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's Leitanthem Basanta Singh by a huge margin of 10,470 votes.

The top two candidates split 98.9% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Okram Ibobi Singh got a total of 18,649 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Leitanthem Basanta Singh secured 8,179 votes. All India Trinamool Congress's candidate Leishangthem Suresh Singh secured 144 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 68.7%, 30.1% and 0.5% respectively.

In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Okram Ibobi Singh outperformed Bharatiya Janata Party's Oinam Indira by 15,453 votes.
