Manipur Election: Wangkhem Assembly Constituency 2022

Wangkhem is one of the 60 Manipur Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Thoubal district. People of Wangkhem voted for Manipur Assembly Election 2022 on March 3 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Wangkhem assembly seat had 31,247 registered voters. Of the, 15,351 were male and 15,896 were female voters. 0.6% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, there were 5 candidates in the fray from Wangkhem constituency. Wangkhem was one of 28 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Keisham Meghachandra Singh won the election upstaging North East India Development Party's Yumnam Nabachandra Singh by a margin of 2,880 votes.

The top three candidates split 85.5% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Keisham Meghachandra Singh got a total of 11,293 votes, while North East India Development Party's Yumnam Nabachandra Singh secured 8,413 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Oinam Haridas Singh grabbed the third spot with 4,573 votes. The top three parties got 39.8%, 29.6% and 16.1% respectively.

In Manipur Assembly election 2012, Indian National Congress's Keisham Meghachandra Singh defeated Manipur Peoples Party's Dr. Nimaichand Luwang by 2,956 votes.
