In Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2017, there were 3,33,936 registered voters for Aliganj assembly seat, out of which 1,82,669 were male and 1,51,267 were female voters. 0.5% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In 2017, 14 candidates were contesting for Aliganj assembly constituency seat. Aliganj was one of 312 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bharatiya Janata Party's Satyapal Singh Rathaur won the election by defeating Samajwadi Party's Rameshwar Singh Yadav by a margin of 13,851 votes.
The top three candidates split 97.6% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Satyapal Singh Rathaur got a total of 88,695 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Rameshwar Singh Yadav secured 74,844 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Awadhpal Singh Yadav grabbed the third spot with 46,275 votes. The top three parties got 41.2%, 34.8% and 21.5% respectively.
In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Rameshwar Singh defeated Bahujan Samaj Party's Sanghmitra Maurya by 26,021 votes.
