Uttar Pradesh Election: Matera Assembly Constituency 2022

Matera comes under the Bahraich district and it is one of the 403 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Constituencies . People of Matera voted for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 27 and the result was declared on March 10.

In 2017, the Matera assembly seat had 3,24,778 registered voters. Of the, 1,73,698 were male and 1,51,080 were female voters. 0.8% of votes were casted for NOTA.

What happened last time

In the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election, there were 10 candidates in the fray from Matera constituency. Matera was one of 47 seats won by the Samajwadi Party. It was an extremely close fight, with Samajwadi Party's Yasar Shah narrowly winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's Arun Veer Singh by a slim margin of 1,595 votes.

96.1% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. Samajwadi Party's Yasar Shah grabbed a total of 79,188 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's Arun Veer Singh got 77,593 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Sultan Ahmad Khan bagged 33,482 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 40.0%, 39.2% and 16.9% respectively.

In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Yasar Shah outperformed Indian National Congress's Ali Akabar by 2,801 votes.
