Bharatiya Janata Party's Babu Ram Paswan won the election upstaging Samajwadi Party's Peetam Ram by a margin of 39,242 votes.

The top two candidates split 89.0% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Babu Ram Paswan got a total of 1,28,493 votes, while Samajwadi Party's Peetam Ram secured 89,251 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Er.K.K. Arvind secured 20,139 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 52.5%, 36.5% and 8.2% respectively.

In Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2012, Samajwadi Party's Peetam Ram beat Bharatiya Janata Party's Babu Ram by 30,838 votes.
