98.3% of the total votes were casted to top three candidates. All India Trinamool Congress's Prabir Kumar Ghosal grabbed a total of 84,918 votes, while Communist Party Of India (Marxist)'s Prof. Dr.Srutinath Praharaj got 72,918 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Krishna Bhattacharjee bagged 23,687 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties registered 46.0%, 39.5% and 12.8% respectively.
In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, All India Trinamool Congress's Anup Ghosal outperformed Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Prof. Dr. Srutinath Praharaj by 43,193 votes.
