Veteran actor and mimicry artist Aasha Singh Jaiswal has passed away in Mumbai. She died on August 22, with her son Akkash Bharadwaj confirming the news. A familiar face in films and television, Aasha was also known for her mimicry performances. According to Akkash, she passed away at around 7:30 pm. Her last rites were held the next morning at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle West, Mumbai.

Remembering his mother, Akkash took to Instagram to honour her life and her dedication to her work. He described her as an “Iron Lady” and urged people to continue watching and remembering her performances.
“Wah ek karmath Loh-Mahila (Iron Lady) thi. Aap sabhi unki aatma ki sadgati evam shanti ke liye prarthna karen. Aur unke kaam ko social media par zarur dekhen aur yaad rakhen taaki unki aatma jahan bhi hon prasanchitt ho ki aap unka kaam ab bhi dekh aur yaad kar rahen hain (She was a dedicated ‘Iron Lady’. Please pray for the peace and salvation of her soul. Do make sure to view and remember her work on social media, so that wherever her soul may be, she feels happy knowing that you are still seeing and remembering her contributions).”
Akkash also reflected on how deeply his mother valued her work and shared a message about remembering her life through the work she left behind.

Aasha Singh Jaiswal was an actor, mimicry artist and social worker who worked across television, films and live performances during her long career. She became widely known for playing Kripi, the sister of Kripacharya, in B.R. Chopra’s iconic mythological series Mahabharat. Her film credits included character roles in Baazigar, Bobby Jasoos, Deewangee, Aag, Kayda Kanoon, Aansu Bane Angaarey and Ghar Bazar.
Aasha also made a name for herself as a pioneering female mimicry artist. She was particularly admired for her voice impressions of legendary actor Meena Kumari. Alongside her work in entertainment, she founded Aasha Events and Films and remained involved in social work.
