“I don’t remember a time when I was not playing under pressure. I’ve been dealing with it since I was 15, but that’s okay. As sportspersons, we are used to that. But being dragged into things where I have no business is not done. People forget that celebrities are also human beings; we also feel bad, and it’s not always okay to just write or say anything about us,” says Sania, who’s married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik.

While Mirza doesn’t believe in feeling negative within, she does accept that it’s not always possible to ignore reports.

“Sometimes, you do get worked up. Not everything can be laughed off,” says the 28-year-old, who hit headlines earlier this year when she was tagged as ‘Pakistan’s daughter-in-law’ by a politician after being designated the brand ambassador of the newly formed state, Telangana.
