When I got married to Jesse (model Jesse Randhawa), I wondered if she and Arjun would get along fine. Thankfully, they’ve found a mother and son in each other,” says choreographer Sandip Soparrkar, who claims to be the first single male in showbiz to adopta child.
Was adopting a child difficult for him, given that there are too many proceedings, especially if the parent is single? “Rules are a bit relaxed for a single female as compared to a male.” He adds that he is very lucky because his son Arjun is such a pleasant child: “His smile makes my day.”
The choreographer also helps other singles and couples adopt kids from various orphanages, hospitals, children’s homes and adoption centres. “Ever since people got to know that I adopted a child, I’ve been flooded with mails and messages asking for guidance. Earlier, I replied to every single message and mail personally. Now, my manager passes the right numbers to the right people. I’m happy being a bridge between a child who needs a family and parents who want to complete their family,” he smiles.
For this, Soparrkar has also worked closely with actors Sushmita Sen and Raveena Tandon Thadani, both mothers of two adopted girls each. “They’re special ladies for me because they share my ideology on adopting kids. And look at their kids. They’re so beautifully brought up,” he adds.

{{/usCountry}}So, has he taught his son some of his moves? “Ah, he’s the karate variety. He’s least bit interested in dance, probably because we occupy his play area while rehearsing at home,” laughs Soparrkar.
