Soon bollywood will occupy a lot of space at home — not only on the DVD rack, but also the clothes cupboard, personal grooming area and financial investment files.
On Tuesday, Future Group and Percept Ltd formed a joint venture to open stores selling Bollywood merchandise at popular malls. Kishore Biyani, CEO of the Future Group, said: "We hope to bring a unique touch and feel of the Bollywood experience to the consumer."
Most of the merchandise will be priced between Rs 50 and Rs 500, and will be available in stores at Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Indore, Jaipur and Pune.
That’s not all. In June, actor Suniel Shetty and Creative group’s joint venture firm, Creative Crossover Fashions Pvt Ltd, will offer to tailor your clothes and cut your hair in your favourite star’s style. "The first two stores will come up in Mumbai and Delhi in June," said Rahul Mehta of Creative. “We are eyeing a turnover of Rs 100 crore in the next four years."
And if you have Rs 2 crore to spare, Vistaar Religare has opened a Rs 200 crore-fund through which you can invest in films directly.
Vistaar Religare’s chairman Sheetal Talwar said: "Apart from institutions we are looking at high net worth individuals who have already invested in equities, debt and art and are looking at a new asset class. We have got some investments and have sunk some money in a few films already. We will later start another round — going up to $1 billion (Rs 4,000 crore)."
