Her latest film Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JHTJ) is generating a huge buzz before it’s release, but Anushka Sharma has always been more in the news for her alleged relationships than her movie roles. Of late, she hit the headlines when reports suggested that she has found a new 4 am friend in Arjun Kapoor after falling out with reported boyfriend Ranveer Singh, who has come close to his Ram Leela (tentative title) co-star Deepika Padukone.
But Anushka is clearly not amused with such reports. “What can I say about that? Firstly, what does that (4 am friend) even mean? Does it mean that I have spoken to Arjun at 4 in the morning or does it carry a different connotation?” says Anushka.
Currently busy with the promotions for JTHJ, she hits out at such reports that people create as stupid and nonsensical. “Coming to the 4 am friend remark, if it means that Arjun and I have spoken to each other at 4’o clock in the morning, in our field, it’s very normal because we really don’t have fixed work hours. We don’t work like that. For instance, I shot only during nights for Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola. I didn’t even see sunlight during that period. So, if I am talking to my friend Arjun in the middle of my shoot, what’s wrong with it? But if the connotation of a 4 am friend is something else, then I don’t want to talk about it. It’s not something I understand so I won’t even get into it,” she explains.
Although the Band Baaja Baraat (2010) girl isn’t happy about the rumours, she gets all excited about her next, the late Yash Chopra’s last film. “Being a Yash Chopra heroine is very actor’s dream. When I was shooting for it, I didn’t know it would be his last film,” says Anushka, who was launched in Bollywood by Yash Raj Films with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008). “Now, JTHJ has become too special a film for me to bother about such things (commercial success etc). As an outsider, I would really want to watch a Yash Chopra film because this is the last time I would see a Yashji film,” she adds.
