Actor Yuvika Choudhary steers clear of branded stores. She shops often at Colaba Causeway and Hill Road, and splurges at airports

We reach actor Yuvika Choudhary’s (33) Andheri residence at 10am. It’s rather early for a fashion shoot. Choudhary is far from ready. She is in her pyjamas as she welcomes us. However, in less than 15 minutes, she is dressed and ready to take us through her closet, which is packed with junk jewellery, old pairs of denims, sneakers and perfumes.

Style mantra: “I believe in whatever looks comfortable on me and whatever your body allows you to wear. We all have a different body shape, and not everything looks good on everybody. Style means finding the perfect fit that you can carry off with ease.”

Street style: “I hoard a lot of junk jewellery. I am not brand conscious. I spend a lot every time I go to Colaba Causeway. You actually find a unique collection there. So many people shop from the same brands that the chances of wearing identical pieces are higher. I also shop a lot from malls like Palladium and Inorbit.”

Bag it: “I absolutely love bags but maintaining them is a different story. I have a collection of Fendi bags. But it’s difficult to use them regularly in Mumbai. The weather is such that the leather often wears off. Clutches are easier to maintain. The latest clutch I bought was from Bottega Veneta.”

Wardrobe staples:“I always carry a pair of tracksuits, sneakers, ganjis, a cap, and sunglasses.”

She prefers sneakers over heels

Sneak in: “I feel getting ready is a massive task, and wearing heels is the worst part of it all. If I could, I would never wear them. I am most comfortable in sneakers. In fact, I recently bought some really cheap ones from Hill Road (Bandra).

Wardrobe wish: “I find it difficult to give my denims away. I still have some of my eight-year-old ones. Someday, I hope to fit into them again. That’s my ultimate sartorial goal.”
