Anushka Sharma abandons her jeans to prove the power of sexy statement trousers

Anushka Sharma’s Sui Dhaaga promotions style is bringing a little something extra to the table. It wasn’t too long ago that Anushka stepped out in some effortlessly cool printed dresses on her UK trip with cricketer-husband Virat Kohli. And the actor’s loyalty to slouchy blue jeans is well-known. But now Anushka’s proving if there’s one piece that belongs in every woman’s wardrobe right now, it’s the statement pant. Proving this point are Anushka’s Sui Dhaaga press tour looks.

Anushka has given her fave wardrobe staple — namely ripped denim — a temporary rest and is opting for something a little more daring. Anushka’s been wearing the statement trousers look in a variety of silhouettes, colours, and prints, keeping the trend interesting with each new take. Anushka did it when she suited up in a textured Alexandre Birman crop top and a neat, cigarette-shaped Raw Mango trousers in an unexpected brocade fabric.

The trousers Anushka has sported on Sui Dhaaga interviews and photo-calls have often featured game-changing elements, such as extreme bell-bottoms and belted, paper-bag waists. Her Chola the label pants also came with a fresh new twist: A wrap-tie belt detail that billowed in the wind. She kept rest of her look minimal, going with dewy makeup, nude lips and pulled-back hair to tie it all together.

Demonstrating a clear understanding of how to balance proportions, Anushka’s stylist Allia Al Rufai switched things up and coupled one of the stars wardrobe signatures — a pair of black skinny pants — with a voluminous crop top from Two Point Two. She grounded the look with white sneakers, for a polished yet causal look.
